SATENA and the Civil Air Patrol Join Forces to Bring Health to the Pacific Coast with a Free Medical-Surgical Day

  • The first brigade of this alliance took place from January 24th to 26th, 2025 in Guapi, Cauca, with the participation of specialist doctors, nurses, technicians, and support staff.
  • During this day, 500 people were impacted with health services and surgical procedures such as the resection of hernias and lipomas.

SATENA, the airline of Colombians, and the Civil Air Patrol of Colombia (PAC), a non-profit civil organization, joined forces to bring to the Pacific coast the first free medical-surgical day aimed at vulnerable communities. This alliance managed to impact 500 people in this region, characterized by its limited connectivity and access to specialized health services.

The day took place from January 24th to 26th, 2025, in the municipality of Guapi, where it had a multidisciplinary team of specialist doctors in surgery, pediatrics, gynecology, ophthalmology, radiology, and dermatology, as well as nursing staff and surgical technicians. SATENA, for its part, contributed to the success of the mission by facilitating the transportation of specialists who participated in this initiative. During the three days, the professionals provided comprehensive medical care and performed procedures such as the resection of hernias and lipomas.

"We are happy to put our aircraft at the service of the most vulnerable communities, not only to connect them with the rest of the country, but also to bring hope and improve their quality of life. This is the true engine of our work," said Major General Óscar Zuluaga Castaño, president of SATENA.

The humanitarian mission departed from Cali on Friday and culminated on Sunday, as part of the commitment of SATENA and the PAC to overcome the barriers that prevent access to medical services in the most remote territories of the country.

For her part, Pamela Estrada, General Director of the PAC, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: "The union between organizations, companies, and the public sector is fundamental to support humanitarian work. With SATENA as an ally, we bring the talent and dedication of our volunteers to communities that face enormous challenges in health matters."

Thanks to the support of donors and allies who support the PAC missions, this initiative reaffirms the commitment of both organizations to the most forgotten communities in the country.

Guapi thus became the epicenter of this alliance, whose objective is not only to improve health conditions in the region but also to bring a message of hope and solidarity to those who need it most.
