OFFICIAL STATEMENT
SATENA Suspends Operations at Araracuara Airstrip, Caquetá, Starting August 25, 2025
Bogotá, July 2025.
SATENA, the airline of Colombians, informs the public and local authorities that, as part of its commitment to operational safety and in compliance with the standards established by current aeronautical regulations, it has decided to indefinitely suspend operations at the Araracuara airstrip, located in the department of Caquetá, starting in August 2025. This decision was made following a technical evaluation conducted by the airline's aviation safety experts, who identified irregular conditions on the runway surface, such as potholes, uneven areas, and asphalt material detachment. These findings compromise the integrity of landing and takeoff maneuvers, making it necessary to take preventive measures to safeguard the lives of passengers and crew, as well as the safe operation of aircraft.
To maintain connectivity in this region, SATENA will operate the route Florencia - La Chorrera - Leticia - La Pedrera - Leticia - Tarapacá and return on Monday, July 27, with the return flight on Tuesday, July 28. Starting in August 2025, this route will be reinforced and replaced with the following itinerary: San José del Guaviare - La Chorrera - Leticia - La Pedrera - Leticia - Tarapacá and return, operating on Mondays with return on Tuesdays. This route will continue to connect Amazonian municipalities with Bogotá, ensuring timely and safe service. Meanwhile, flights to and from Florencia and Bogotá will continue to operate normally.
SATENA reiterates that operational safety is a fundamental pillar of its mission as a public airline with a social purpose, and that any decision regarding route modifications is based on strict technical criteria.
The airline encourages users to stay informed through official channels about new itineraries, frequencies, and available connectivity alternatives. For more information, please visit www.satena.com or contact the national call center.
SATENA thanks the affected communities for their understanding and reaffirms its commitment to continue connecting the most remote regions of the country, guided by principles of responsibility, efficiency, and public service.
